February

Joyful Purple Poppies

February is almost over and I am just posting for February! Oh, well, you know I don't  keep this up like I should if I was a good blogger.

I have had the laser surgery on both eyes now and I guess it was successful. The Dr. said the pressure was down and it should help preventing the common type of glaucoma. I didn't know before this that there was more than one kind.

I have had to cut back on computer work, though. I am trying a 20/10 plan but I am not always successful. 20 min on the computer and 10 off. The 10  off is easy because I am going through drawers and closets getting rid of stuff I haven't used for years. The 20 on is harder because I will be in the middle of a design and the darn timer rings. Sometimes I forget to hit the start button, too so have no idea how many minutes I was working. I seem to lose time when I am working. But my eyes are better and my back is definitely better so I just have to make myself do it. I am not submitting as many designs a day, though because of this.

Right now I am working on a banner and avatar for a company that makes soaps, lotions, etc. and it is fun. I am working with the colors and things I like to work with, angels, doves, clouds, etc. I sent them a sample of what I am doing so can't work on it anymore until I hear back.

Our oldest great grandson was 8 years old yesterday. We went to his birthday party Sunday and he is getting so grown up.

Well, I just heard from the company and I have to start over! I will use it as a theme! It is too pretty to waste.

I hope you all had a nice Valentines Day. I baked brownies for my husband and he gave me a valentine he made and some candy. It was nice and I just feel lucky that I can spend Valentines with him after all these years.

Back to work and hope all is well with you. Be back soon

Happy Valentines Day to All

Mozilla Firefox Add Ons

Brand Thunder

Valentines Day. A day to  remember the one you love and celebrate that love. I hope the design I chose for this posting will be enjoyed by all. I think it is kind of cool.

January is on its last leg and it has been a wet one here. I am surprised we don't have moss growing on our bodies. But at least it isn't ice and snow.

I have had to slow down a bit on designs. I didn't even turn the desktop computer on over the week end at all. And that is a first for me, in many, many years. My ophthalmologist diagnosed me with narrow angle glaucoma last week and I have to have some laser eye surgery next week. I already have optical nerve damage in one eye so I am hoping it doesn't get any worse. If this surgery is successful then they will do the other eye.

I was pleased to get some great complimentary emails last week from people that are enjoying my work. Thanks so much. I read all of them and answer all I can.

Our oldest grandson stopped by Friday evening with his 2 little ones. What a treat! The 2 year old wanted the music turned on so he could dance, so we turned the stereo on and we were dancing. But it was time  to go home and he didn't want to quit dancing so I told him he could take the music with him. Well, when you say something like that, you don't realize what the child may think you are actually saying! I burn my own CD's so I opened the stereo and took the CD out and gave it to  him. But he kept trying to move the stereo, ( which is old school and a great big boxy thing with 2 big separate speakers). I kept telling him Daddy could put it in the van and he could hear the music but he kept trying to move the stereo! It took us a long time to figure out he thought he had to take the whole stereo with him to "take" the music with him. Over the weekend we laughed so many times remembering that. So I guess the motto is, think about what you say and what the child might "think" you are saying.

I hope you all have a great week and a Happy Valentines day.

Till next time

Decided to update my blog and put Christmas away. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and haven't made any New Years resolutions you will break. I found out many years ago not to make resolutions because you are just setting yourself up for failure. And who wants to do that?

I can't believe I will be 74 next month. I must say 73 was not a great year for me. I am beginning to feel my age. Getting slower to get up which really irritates me since I have always been someone that moves quickly, works quickly and gets a lot done. Health wise I can really tell it, though. My eyes are beginning to give me problems which makes working on the computer a bit more difficult so I need to take some breaks. Which I find  hard to do. I don't like to quit working when I am in the middle of something. So there may be a few less designs this year.

Mozilla seems to have gotten into a slump, too. They can't seem to keep their pages up to date lately, so I am not submitting as many designs. Once they get up and running "better" then I will submit more.

I am really enjoying the  Nexus 7 I won from Brand Thunder. It is amazing. You can get the Amazon Kindle app and I have read 5 books on it so far. That doesn't help my eyes any, either! I also won a $50 Amazon gift certificate from Brand Thunder so I got a nice case for the 7 and a stylus for it.  I have "tried" to play a couple games on it but I am not, nor have I ever been a gamer. So needless to say I haven't had much luck with games. They seem like such a total waste of time. And I don't find it is relaxing because I just get frustrated!

Well, I am going to get back to work. I am working on Valentines Day already. Time moves so quickly anymore.

Have a great week.

Purple Designer Christmas
Brand Thunder Link

Well, we made it through another year together. And today was the day the Mayan calendar proclaimed the end of time!

I just wanted to wish you all a great holiday and hope you can spend it with family like we are so lucky to be able to.

The Brand Thunder blog had a spot about the Nexus 7 winners and thought I would post the link. http://brandthunder.com/2012/nexus-7-winners-brand-thunder-offering-more-prizes-in-new-year/ I am really enjoying the Nexus 7. I am reading books on it right now. I put the Kindle app on it and can get books from Amazon free or at a very low cost. My husband is using it to play a hunting game on it, too. So I want to thank Brand Thunder for the win. I did work hard on the contest, though. I made a lot of pop culture designs and the one that they chose to win was Darth Vader Red Planet. I have never seen a Star Wars movie but it was fun to make.

Till next year!

Fun to Be A Snowman

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever you believe in!

We still have geraniums blooming in pots under the eves of the house so it doesn't really seem  like Christmas time but it is.

We have had a pretty rough couple weeks but things are looking up now. I came down with walking pneumonia before Thanksgiving and just kept working but I shouldn't have. Then the day after my husband took me to the Dr. our son and his wife dropped by and they were just leaving when my husband just passed out cold on the floor. It was so scary and I was so weak from being sick that I don't know what would have happened if the kids hadn't been here. I almost passed out while the EMT's were here taking good care of my husband. They took him to the hospital and it sounds like the Doctors had him on too much blood pressure medicine and his blood pressure just dropped. He hit his head on the floor but guess he has a hard head because there was no fracture, etc. He is doing fine now, but of course he caught my bug, so we got him on antibiotics right away so it didn't end up like mine. We both still cough but can see a light at the end of the tunnel now.

I am so thankful he is all right, and so thankful that we have great kids and they are all close by.

We decided that we won't have Christmas Eve at our house this year. It has gotten more difficult to get everyone together since everyone has so much family, babies, etc. This will be the first Christmas eve I haven't had a get together in about 35 years so will be different but guess we have earned it at this point in our lives. We will be with family earlier in the day, though.

I have kept very busy working on designs and have more Christmas designs made than I should have. But they are so much fun and I keep getting new graphics so hope you are enjoying my work.

I always make our family calendar and worked on it over the week end and it is finished and printed out.

I am loving my Nexus 7 that I won and my husband likes playing hunting games on it since he isn't doing much hunting this year. Thank you, Brand Thunder for it and to all the people that are using my designs.

Christmas Bright

I will end this post as I began it by wishing you all a great holiday season. I want to thank you for using my designs and your support over this past year.

And a good night to all!

Autumn Resting Wolf

Thought I would stop in and thank the loyal fans that voted for my theme in the Brand Thunder contest. I knew I would not win the popular vote contest because I refuse to go on Facebook. But I did win the most important contest to me and that was the one judged by professionals. You can read about it at: http://brandthunder.com/2012/winner-best-design-pop-culture-theme/ Brand Thunder broadened my horizons as far as designs go. As you know I usually stick to nature but since this was for pop culture I had to do some deep thinking. One thing I never thought I would do was gaming themes, but I talked to a grandson and he gave me some ideas and I really enjoyed making them. And will probably continue to make a few. So I want to thank Brand Thunder for the contest and for liking my designs well enough to judge me the winner.

I am excited about winning the Google Nexus 7 and learning something new. I had almost enough winnings from other contest to buy the Kindle Fire HD and have read 2 books already on it, so now my husband can read books on either the Nexus 7 or the Kindle Fire HD!

The theme I have up today is from a painting by Peter Williams. I just happened to come across some of his art work and wrote and asked him if he would allow me to use his work for my Persona theme designs and he was nice enough to grant me the privilege. There is something about wolves that fascinate me. You can probably tell because I have made quite a few wolf designs. It may be some of my Native American heritage from way back when my great, great, grandfather married a Cherokee or Choctaw Indian woman named Nancy.

I am now working on Christmas themes and it is kind of hard to do when you are not really in that frame of mind yet. But I am doing it!

I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

That is all for now

More CP for summer

Won't write much today, but a very nice woman asked me for a specific wallpaper and wanted to get it out for her. Getting to see my bro...
