Thanksgiving Month

It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving will be in a few weeks. I haven't made a lot of Thanksgiving themes but am working on Christmas. a lot of Christmas designs. I made a logo for a company and they seemed to be very pleased with it, so hope it works out for them. Have another book cover I am working on for an author. Have it pretty much finished just have to get her final approval.

Halloween was fun. We had Puss N Boots, a lion and the cutest little lady bug you ever saw. We live on a dead end road so don't get many trick or treaters. But 3 great grandkids got to get treats, anyway. Years ago when our kids were small our road was full of kids and they would all go out together and have tons of fun and get tons of treats. My husband and I used to go through the bags and pick out some treats we liked!

We will get two Thanksgiving dinners this year. One at our son's house before Thanksgiving with grandkids and great grandkids so looking forward to that. Then we will have a small dinner at our house on Thanksgiving. This will be the 55th Thanksgiving dinner I have fixed but it will be so much smaller than they used to be when my parents, grandparents, brother, sister, aunts, uncles and cousins were around to attend. I remember the last Thanksgiving my Grandpa and Grandma were able to make. Grandma wanted to taste a "tiny bit" of the wine, so we poured her a little bit in a glass and she drank it down really fast. She had never tasted wine before! Then all of a sudden she got really warm. It was a great moment and we laughed so hard. I will never forget. She was such a special grandmother and I was her first grandchild and got to spend a lot of time with Grandpa and Grandma on their little farm. I can remember going to town with her when I was very small. I knew if I saw something I really liked she would buy it for me. Or I would get it for Christmas.  I think the only time I ever rode in a taxi was with her. She didn't drive and I can't remember why we were in town in a taxi, but I do remember the taxi. That was a very big deal for this poor little farm girl.

I am so glad our local elections are over. The junk mail and phone calls we got was terrible and the amount of money spent was enormous and such a waste because I think everyone probably knew who and what they were going to vote for before they ever received any mail or phone calls. I am so glad they turned out the way we wanted. Getting the County Council members in we wanted and needed so badly was probably more important than federal elections since they don't get much done in DC.

Time is going too fast. The older you get the faster it goes. When I was a child I remember Christmas time would never get here and the days would just drag. Now they fly. I don't have enough time in the day to get everything done I need and want to do. Or maybe I am just slower!

I am going to wish you all a Thanksgiving and thank everyone for the great reviews your are posting on the Persona sight and the emails. I try to answer most of them but sometimes one will slip by me. But I do thank you and appreciate you taking the time.

October didn't start out very well for me! My husband and I both ended up with some kind of flu or virus that lasted 3 weeks. I haven't felt that bad in years, and it is taking forever to get over. I had walking pneumonia last winter but it was nothing compared to this. I am usually a high energy person and I didn't have any! Energy, that is. I still have to push myself, but then I have to go sit and rest awhile. I lost 5 1/2# and I didn't have any extra to lose so am really trying to eat but don't have an appetite. Our very busy daughter made us 2 kinds of home made soups that kept us going. She made tons so got to freeze it, too. She holds down 2 jobs and don't know how she finds time to help out, but she does. Thank you, Dearest Daughter! Although I know she never reads this cause she doesn't have time!

I have been having a good time working on Halloween designs, though. I got some new graphics and managed to work them into some pretty good designs. Anyway, I hope they are.

Our weather went from 80° one day to 60° the next so no wonder people get sick! It is definitely fall out. Foggy mornings and cold evenings. Today's morning fog is still here and it is afternoon so don't know what that tells us!

The above is my favorite fall theme. I actually have it on twice. The first time I put it on line I didn't have Photoshop and couldn't clean it up as well as this one. I have been trying to edit the first/old one but Mozilla has a bug and I can't edit it. I think perhaps because it is an older one, I really don't know. So I re-did it and put it on again so at least I can use it.

Well, I am starting to wear down and the clock tells me it is lunch time, so better find something to eat.

Dreary Dreary September Day

Last week was just gorgeous. This week has started out dreary and rainy and just plain yukky! The Seahawks kicked butt yesterday, though so that was good! But I hope the little kitty above is praying for more sunshine. Mama needs it!

 

I have been working all morning and was getting kind of down so I started my music and that always makes me feel better. I get most of my music from Amazon, one song at a time. Just got the latest Sheryl Crow song, "Easy". Really like it, too. Most all of my music is country, but since Sons of Anarchy is my favorite TV series, I have downloaded some, but not all of the music from the show. Some of it is too 'hard rock" or whatever they call it now.  We just finished watching all 5 season of the show again. Can't wait till next August when Season 6 comes out. I keep telling my husband, I have to live long enough to see the final episode of SOA!

 

I love reading mystery books and read them on the Nexus 7 I won from Brand Thunder. I found a site called Freebook Sifter. You can sign up for emails and they send out a list every day of hundred of free books. The books are actually on Amazon so easy to get on your e-reader. The problem is I find one or more every day and can't read that fast. But I found out if you find one you like you better get it that day, cause it won't be free the next day. There was one yesterday I kind of thought my husband would like and didn't get it. Yesterday it was free, today it was $9.99! Live and learn, I guess. So he won't be reading it!

September 11th

Where were you on September 11th 2001? I think everyone remembers exactly where and what they were doing on that day. My husband and I had ridden our motorcycles to Winthrop, Wa and stayed in our favorite little cabin, Mountain View Chalets. We didn't turn the TV on that morning so when we went out to get on our bikes to ride home, the other visitors were talking and said to us "What a horrible day." And I remember saying, "What do you mean, it is a beautiful day?" So they filled us in and we couldn't believe what they were saying. So we went back in to the cabin and turned the TV on. The reception wasn't very good but we could see the towers falling, etc. All we wanted to do was go home, so we got on the bikes and left for home. It is still unbelievable in a way, that our country, where we feel so safe and secure could be attacked in this way. 

A few days later a guy asked me to make a Persona theme so I did. At that point I didn't know much about Photoshop Elements so made a simple design.

To change the subject, I told you about my bee sting on my last posting.

Well it turned out to be a very bad sting. I actually don't know if it was a bee or what it was. But I ended up at the Dr. getting the blisters drained. Actually it was 1 big blister by the time I went to the Dr. I still have to wear a dressing on it or I can't wear a shoe!

I have been busy working on fall designs and may do a few Halloween ones. It doesn't seem possible that Halloween is just around the corner. I see the candy aisles are full in the stores.

I thought the above design turned out real well although it isn't a fall design. Took a lot of time to add the trees, bird, clouds, etc. but it looks very tranquil, doesn't it?

There has been a big discussion on the Persona forum about copyrights. One designer thinks she can take any photo, wallpaper, etc. on line add a few birds to it and then copyright it! I can't believe she actually thinks she can do that. I do copyright a design or wallpaper that I have made from a totally blank canvas or from a photo I have personally taken. 

School is in session again and I imagine there are a lot of Mom's out there that are breathing a sigh of relief. I can remember how excited the first day of school was for my kids. Myself, what I remember most about the first day of school was what I was gonna wear. For some reason that seemed awfully important! I imagine it is still the same out there.

Our weather has been superb. And is over 80° today and gonna get warmer. I love it, I can hang laundry out, the laundry is smaller because the pants are short and the sleeves are short or no sleeves. I hate wearing big bulky clothes and coats.

Wheat 2 Harvest

We actually got rain in the past few days. In some places too much rain!

The big news is that we have a new little boy in our family. So now, we have 4 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. Boys run in  my husband family so we weren't too surprised. But he is healthy beautiful addition to our family and we are very proud. Can't wait to meet him.

I have never been afraid of bees and we have had a lot of them this year. But I think I will be a bit leery of them from now on. We were at our daughter's house last Sunday and sitting at the picnic table in the lawn. All of a sudden I got stung on my big toe and it really hurt. I have gotten stung this summer by yellow jackets and they hurt a bit but not much. Well, this one hurt a lot and by Monday my foot was swollen and red and it started getting 2 little blisters on the top of my big toe and foot. By Tues. morning it was 1 huge blister that was bigger than my thumb. So the Dr. said not to drain it myself, he thought he better check it out. So we went in and the nurses all had to come in and look at my ugly foot! He drained it and dressed it. It has filled back some, but doesn't hurt anymore and I can get a shoe on. I guess the moral to this is "keep your toenails painted". Luckily I had just done mine 2 days before the bee got me.
 

Well I got sidetracked. Had to help my husband work on a car he is working on for a high school boy, so now I have to get back to cleaning house and doing a few more designs.

P.S. I was just notified that a new designer actually thinks I am copying her designs or ideas!  I find this amusing since I have been making the same type of nature, forest, animal and flower designs since I first began making Persona's in 2009. So in fact she is actually copying my ideas and work! You would not believe the politics that goes on in the Persona family! Very petty...very petty!

Feeling of Fall!

 The morning and evenings are sure feeling like fall. I am enjoying working on fall designs as you can probably tell by what I submit. But I am getting tired. I am actually thinking about not making designs anymore. I have felt like this before and gotten over it, but I get frustrated at times. I find out from others that one specific designer is actually commenting or reviewing her own designs giving them 5 stars, etc. Personally I think this is wrong but if she has to do that to make herself feel fulfilled, I guess that is her right, but making up a new "name" to do so is just not right. 

Mozilla finally got the "lost" designs back on line, but I just went to edit one of my latest designs:

because I made a typo and it says shadow of thr Moon! And it won't let me edit it. So I won't put the link for it on till I can actually spell it right. I love this type of design. I have said before how much I like Native American images with wolves, etc. so really enjoyed making this one!

Our family's newest addition is due very soon and I am getting excited to meet him/her. They don't find out the baby's sex so it is always a surprise. They will have their hands full for awhile. Three babies in 3 years! I know because that is what we had. Two isn't bad because you have 2 hands but that 3rd one makes a big difference. But the nice thing about that is they play together and grow up together. The problem is they all usually leave home about the same time and I went through the "empty nest syndrome". It is hard when that has been your whole life, taking care of kids and all of a sudden, there are no kids to take care of. You cook too much, etc. 

The summer weather has been much appreciated. I really love it. It would have been a great year to ride motorcycles and I envy everyone who has gotten to do that. I still miss it very much and almost feel jealous of riders when I see them riding. We are re-watching my favorite TV series, Sons of Anarchy and can't wait till Aug. 27th when season 5 comes out. Every summer we watch if from Season 1 through whatever season was the last DVD to get ready for the newest one to come out.

When I started this post I thought I would write about something else and I got off on another frame of mind and must quit and get back to work. Will do that another day, I guess.
