Well, we made it through another year together. And today was the day the Mayan calendar proclaimed the end of time! 

I just wanted to wish you all a great holiday and hope you can spend it with family like we are so lucky to be able to.

I am reading books on it right now. I put the Kindle app on it and can get books from Amazon free or at a very low cost. My husband is using it to play a hunting game on it, too. So I want to thank Brand Thunder for the win. I did work hard on the contest, though. I made a lot of pop culture designs and the one that they chose to win was Darth Vader Red Planet. I have never seen a Star Wars movie but it was fun to make.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever you believe in!

We still have geraniums blooming in pots under the eves of the house so it doesn't really seem  like Christmas time but it is.

We have had a pretty rough couple weeks but things are looking up now. I came down with walking pneumonia before Thanksgiving and just kept working but I shouldn't have. Then the day after my husband took me to the Dr. our son and his wife dropped by and they were just leaving when my husband just passed out cold on the floor. It was so scary and I was so weak from being sick that I don't know what would have happened if the kids hadn't been here. I almost passed out while the EMT's were here taking good care of my husband. They took him to the hospital and it sounds like the Doctors had him on too much blood pressure medicine and his blood pressure just dropped. He hit his head on the floor but guess he has a hard head because there was no fracture, etc. He is doing fine now, but of course he caught my bug, so we got him on antibiotics right away so it didn't end up like mine. We both still cough but can see a light at the end of the tunnel now.

I am so thankful he is all right, and so thankful that we have great kids and they are all close by. 

We decided that we won't have Christmas Eve at our house this year. It has gotten more difficult to get everyone together since everyone has so much family, babies, etc. This will be the first Christmas eve I haven't had a get together in about 35 years so will be different but guess we have earned it at this point in our lives. We will be with family earlier in the day, though.

I have kept very busy working on designs and have more Christmas designs made than I should have. But they are so much fun and I keep getting new graphics so hope you are enjoying my work.

I always make our family calendar and worked on it over the week end and it is finished and printed out. 

I am loving my Nexus 7 that I won and my husband likes playing hunting games on it since he isn't doing much hunting this year. Thank you, Brand Thunder for it and to all the people that are using my designs.

Thought I would stop in and thank the loyal fans that voted for my theme in the Brand Thunder contest. I knew I would not win the popular vote contest because I refuse to go on Facebook. But I did win the most important contest to me and that was the one judged by professionals. You can read about it at: http://brandthunder.com/2012/winner-best-design-pop-culture-theme/ Brand Thunder broadened my horizons as far as designs go. As you know I usually stick to nature but since this was for pop culture I had to do some deep thinking. One thing I never thought I would do was gaming themes, but I talked to a grandson and he gave me some ideas and I really enjoyed making them. And will probably continue to make a few. So I want to thank Brand Thunder for the contest and for liking my designs well enough to judge me the winner.

I am excited about winning the Google Nexus 7 and learning something new. I had almost enough winnings from other contest to buy the Kindle Fire HD and have read 2 books already on it, so now my husband can read books on either the Nexus 7 or the Kindle Fire HD! 

 

The theme I have up today is from a painting by Peter Williams. I just happened to come across some of his art work and wrote and asked him if he would allow me to use his work for my Persona theme designs and he was nice enough to grant me the privilege. There is something about wolves that fascinate me. You can probably tell because I have made quite a few wolf designs. It may be some of my Native American heritage from way back when my great, great, grandfather married a Cherokee or Choctaw Indian woman named Nancy.

 

I am now working on Christmas themes and it is kind of hard to do when you are not really in that frame of mind yet. But I am doing it!

Finalist in Brand Thunder theme contest!!

Well, I am a finalist in the pop culture theme contest from Brand Thunder. So I am asking all my fans to vote for the one Brand Thunder chose. You can check it out at: http://brandthunder.com/2012/omg-pop-culture-theme-contest-finalists-are-here/

The one they chose of mine was "Pirates of the Caribbean". It was not the one I thought they might choose if I made it to the finals, but I am very happy to be there. I think you can only vote through Facebook and as you know I don't do Facebook so that lets me out of voting for myself! So it will depend on you guys out there that do Facebook, I guess. I worked really hard all month and made some pretty good ones. My favorite was the Elvis one I called "No Time to Say Goodbye" but then I guess that shows my age. I skipped school to go to his movie "Love me Tender" when I was in high school! I think you can vote once a day, but am not sure about that so you can try and see if it lets you. I would appreciate any and all of you that can vote to do so.

The theme I am showing today is the fall design I am using. It seems to be pretty popular with Firefox users also. The wallpaper link is at the Persona site.

I would like to wish all of you on the east coast that were in that horrible storm good luck and I hope you can get back to your homes or someplace warm and dry soon.  A fellow named Tony had written to me and asked if I would make a Persona with a photo of his Siberian Husky, Bandit. So since I was finished making designs for the contest I took time yesterday to make two for him and submitted one. I wrote to him and told him it was on line and got a message back saying, he couldn't see it because the storm hit him hard. I have no idea where he lives but I was surprised to think how insulated I was from it. We watched the horrible pictures on TV but here I was sitting in my nice warm living room and thousands of people were living through the havoc.  My thoughts are with them and I am going to send the Red Cross what we can, anyway. That is about all I can do for now.

Now, I am going to ask all of you to vote in the election on Tuesday also. This is one of the most important things we can do to keep our country free, I feel sad that some out there are trying to make it hard or impossible for every citizen to vote and I hope if you are one of those that you can see through the smoke and mirrors. You can vote if you are registered, so do.

I will let you know the results of the contest next week. Since I don't do Facebook I have my doubts of winning the popularity contest but I sure as heck would like to. Thanks to all of you and let your friends and relatives know they can vote, too.

I thought I would take the time to stop in and let you know I am in another design contest. I didn't think I would enter another one because I got caught up so much in the one last year, but I decided to. Brand Thunder is having a theme contest with pop culture as the them. Since I have lived through most of the pop culture years I am getting into the thought process. The finalists will be announced on Nov. 2nd so if I happen to be a finalist, I will post on this blog so you can vote for my design. I don't do Facebook or any of that social media stuff so I am not out there socially like the younger people, so am at a disadvantage, but I just can't take the time to do Facebook. I have so many design ideas in my head and don't like to take time away from designing. 

I like the Halloween design I posted today so check it out and use it if you like it. If you uses Internet Explorer and want the design you can go to Brand Thunder and download it.

I see the blogger has changed their interface so I am going to have to figure out how to re-do the theme and main picture on my blog. So have patience. I will be back and post about the contest, though, for sure IF I am lucky enough to be a finalist.

Just thought I would pop in for a minute and let everyone know I am still around, still working.

We are having the best August and September  weather I can remember in years. The weather is finally summer and autumn starts Saturday! I wish the weather could be like this all the time, but we live in an area that has seasons!

I am trying to get out and enjoy this weather more, but fall is such a beautiful, colorful season and I have so many fall graphics, I am finding it hard to do so. Today was really productive fore me so I am going outside right this minute and enjoy it.

Beginning to feel a lot like fall!

For some reason, this morning looks like fall. I have to get in the mood to make fall designs soon. The one I posted today is from last year, but I like it. The wallpaper to match is at: http://nature.desktopnexus.com/wallpaper/790696/;

The leaves are beginning to fall off the trees already. Fog in the mornings and you can feel a chill in the air. Sunday it was 89° and this morning it was 59° so you never know what to wear.

Monday when our great grandson was here the fields were being cut for hay.  He came running in to tell me the eagle was back. So I got out my trusty camera and took a few shots while he (the eagle, not my great grandson) was sitting in one of our tallest trees watching for mice. They can actually see mice jumping in the fields after the mower cuts the hay and they love mice. I got one fairly good shot of it so I made a wallpaper and theme (the new name for Personas). I posted a wallpaper also. The link for the wallpaper is with the theme.

 

August Bald Eagle

I have been submitting about a dozen themes  at Brand Thunder each week, too and have been getting Theme of the Week almost every week so that makes me feel like my work is appreciated. Thanks to all who use them.

In  my last post I reported on the review manipulation that has been going on at Mozilla. The Persona Theme department head emailed them and gave them a slap on the wrist, but the manipulation has continued to some degree. It has slowed down some, though.  Needless to say we were all disappointed that the reviewers were not released from reviewing designs.

Thank you all that write and continue to like my work. I guess I will keep making them at this point since I still have lots of ideas.
