First Great Grandson's Football Game!!!

I am so excited about getting to see our oldest great grandson play football tomorrow. It sounds like it is going to be pouring rain but I have rainpants, coat and umbrella all ready to go and sprayed my boots with water repellent! So this great grandma is ready for some football.

I know the forest really need the rain so I will suffer through it and hope the fires will get under control.

My Hawks haven't been doing very well this year so that has been a disappointment but they will get better.

I have been busy sorting files this week. I have a bunch of my themes in a OneDrive folder and I deleted it! So had to figure out a way to get them back. I went to OD's recycle bin and restored them all. BUT that restored all the ones I had submitted and removed from OD. So I had over 750 files I had to go through and see which ones I had submitted already. What made it difficult and time consuming was the fact I had changed some of the titles when I submitted them. Took me 3 days but it is done. I think/hope I learned my lesson!

Have been working on a few fall designs. I don't need to because I have so many made already but I enjoy it so much I hate to quit. I do want to make a new cover for my Geneology Notebook though. So gonna do that when I finish here.

I just got an order from Brand Thunder, too. But may have to wait until next week to start work on that!

Have a great week end.

Flag at Half Staff

My husband put our flag at half mast this past week for the firefighters we lost in the forest fires in WA. The fires are so bad and so dangerous for all the men and women that are trying their best to save the forests and homes of people that live in those communities. It has brought back a lot of memories for me and my husband. And I can tell he wishes he could be there. He even said to me that he could volunteer to sharpen tools, etc. And he could do it, but at his age, I doubt they would let him. Over the past few days he has talked about a lot of the fires he was on. The kids can remember how he smelled when he got back from a fire. He smelled like a camp fire but a hundred times more. Back then, there weren't support people to wash their clothes, showers or food stations. They wore the clothes they took with them and ate K rations a lot of the time. Or food that could be dropped in by planes. My brother and his wife worked for the past 10 years pulling a portable shower trailer, maintaining it and keeping it up for the fire fighters. They decided to retire this summer, but I got an email that they are on a fire right now. I don't know if they got called of if they made the call because there is no cell service or internet where they are. I hope and pray they are safe.

The smoke is so bad in WA you an see it from space. It makes your eyes burn. It makes for beautiful sunsets, though. But that is about the only good thing about the fires.

I haven't been working real hard on designs this past week. I got the order finished for Brand Thunder but they aren't ready for publication yet, I guess. I heard they liked the Mickey Mouse ones but haven't heard about the Jeep designs yet. I worked a lot harder on the Jeep ones. They were just harder to find backgrounds, etc. for them. I finally used some of my mountain photo's that I had taken. I wasn't as happy with some of the end results and since I haven't heard back, they may not have been either. We shall see.

There is a new designer on Firefox right now that has been emailing me constantly about reviews. His profile got taken down a week or so ago and I think it was because he was writing 5 star reviews for himself! You just don't do that! But he is back on now and keeps asking me to write reviews for him. I told him that wasn't the way the system worked. It takes a lot of hard work and learning. I can still work on a design for hours and end up and delete it because it just wasn't right. I wish him luck.

It is time for me to start working on lunch, so will sign off for now.  I think I will sign off with one of my favorite autumn themes.

New Favorite Author!

Light in the Night

Still a beautiful summer in NW Washington. I know it is dry and we need rain but my body says NO! I can imagine how tired the firefighters must be and how tired their wives must be. I know, my husband fought forest fires for many years in the USFS and was on a Firefighting team. I remember how tired I got keeping everything up at home with 3 little ones to take care of, canning to do, etc. I hate it that we are losing so many acres of forest because that is one of my favorite places to be.

I think I have mentioned before that my husband and I like to read books on our e-readers. I read books on the Nexus 7 that I won from Brand Thunder. Well, I have a new favorite author. Jessica James. The first book of hers I read was last month. It was called Shades of Gray. (And no it is nothing like 50 shades of gray, which I haven't read!) As you know I have been a Civil War buff for many years.  Three of my great grandfathers fought in the war. My Dad's grandfather's were both Confederate soldiers. One was in the 19th Regiment, TX Cavalry and was captured by the Yankees in 1863. My other great grandfather was in the Confederate 41st Tennessee Infantry. They were not slave owners by any means. They were poor dirt farmers. On my Mother's side, her grandfather was Carpenters Mate on the USS Cairo when it went down, with no loss of life. Now back to the book! It was a Civil War background with a wonderful love story.  I have to admit I cried at the end of it! There was a notice at the end saying if you wanted to read the epilogue to email her which I did so I could read it.  I was so pleased with the first book,  I read "Meant to Be" by Jessica next. It was also a love story with current military background. It was a great read and I loved it. I fell in love with the characters in the novel. I would recommend both of these books to anyone that is interested in that type of book. Her website is at: http://www.jessicajamesbooks.com/
I can't wait to read the next one. Plus I have several more on my Wish List at Amazon.

I must get back to work but I just wanted to let you know about this great author and check her out if you like historical novels.

Happy Birthday Mom

Today my Mom would have been 99 had she lived. I am missing her more today than usual, but I know she is with my Dad and happy. Not sick anymore, either.

My grandmother gave me an album when I was 7 with pictures of my Mom, mostly of her childhood. This is a photo of my Mom on her way to church.

I found this poem on line and shared it with my brother and sister today.

***************
God Took Her To His Loving Home

God saw her getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped her in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come with me.’
She suffered much in silence, her spirit did not bend.
She faced her pain with courage, until the very end.
She tried so hard to stay with us but her fight was not in vain,
God took her to His loving home and freed her from the pain.

I don't know who the author was but is sounds they like went through what we went through with Mom.

Cross of Lights

We got to have our 3 year old great grandaughter for 2 nights and 3 days this week end. Her parents got a much deserved rest from their three little ones, from 2 to 5 years old.  It is kind of neat that they can share their 3 with both sets of Grandparents and we get one! So no one gets over tired. It has been over 30 years since we had a little girl in our house so we had a ball. I couldn't believe how good she was about taking naps and going to bed. She would sing herself to sleep and when she woke up in the morning instead of fussing or crying, she stayed in bed, talked to herself and sang songs. So we had a good week end and her parents had a good week end.

I have a Keurig coffee maker that we got for our anniversary about 6 or 7 years ago and I love it, but....my husband keeps having to resurrect it. It stops working so I descale it, call Keurig and try everything, then I set it outside. My husband works on it and it starts working for a month or so, then goes through the same thing. But it does something different each time. When it is time for coffee I get very frustrated with it if it doesn't work so a month ago I bought a jar of Trader Joe's instant coffee because it is really the best I have tasted. So I would have it just in case....and it happened again this morning. When my husband came in for lunch he said he had it working again! So it will be coming back into the house. And work for a week or two...I can only hope. They are very expensive and I read the reviews on the newer ones and they aren't very good.

Brand Thunder ordered some more Chrome themes so I have enough to keep me busy this week.

Have a great week and I will get back soon.

August Amongst Us!

I don't think amongst us is a word but I liked it. Have been real busy again this week. I love working with the old cottages among the trees and streams.

Cottage by the River

This is one I added this week. It is kind of funny because as soon as I put this one on, another designer started adding the same type. I added a fisherman design and he started adding fishing designs..

Heavenly Fishing
I have had a problem with another designer that actually changed her pseudanym a month or so ago. She is the one that sent me that awful threathening letter that I think is still posted somewhere on my blog. Anyway she made a bunch of enemies because she kept finding faults with their designs. So she closed that account and opened another one with a smokey type name. Oh, no, I just gave a hint! She uses my wallpapers for her designs which I have asked people not to do and she doesn't like it when I catch her on it. And she doesn't like being caught doing it.

Beautiful Sky

I started this yesterday so will get back to it.  I added Beautiful Sky this morning that I am really pleased with so hope it catches on.

Oops, I just got an email from Brand Thunder with a list of more designs so guess this will be it for today. Will get to work on these.

We are having a bit of rain today and I don't like it. I know we needed it and it will be all right if it gets back to warm and sunny.

Have a great rest of the week
